We had a dentist appointment, all the children and myself. We have a lot of snow here in Luxembourg for the moment so it took some time before everybody had found his/her coat, gloves, hat and snow boots and we had to drive slowly because the roads were very slippery. But we managed to be there in time. We took place in the waiting room and all of a sudden I hear this NOISE. I knew this noise.....it was the noise of a vomiting child, my daughter.....
She vomitted twice, on her clothes, the chair, the floor...everywhere. The dental assistant must have had children of her own, she was really cool and helpful. We had to clean the whole place and I was so grateful that there were no other patients in the room! Do you know the feeling that you wish there was a big hole in the floor and you could just disappear? This was really one of my M.E.M.'s (Most Embarassing Moments) (Sorry, no pictures here).
When we came home, we had to change quickly and put on something really warm. On February 2nd, children in Luxembourg celebrate "Liichtmësdaag". The children make lanterns at school, go from door to door, sing a special song and get candy and chocolate in return from the people in our village . The kids love this day. If only it would be somewhere in July or August. It was snowing and so wet, very cold, but the kids had such a great time. We had 17 children in our group and look what we got. Tons and tons of candy and chocolate (well at least we had clean teeth to start with).

Hier viert er volgens mij helemaal niemand Maria Lichtmis. Nu woon ik zelf in de Black Belt dus dat is logisch, maar ook mijn familie in Brabant doet er niet aan. Ik ken de term van een katholiek gezin dat hier in de buurt woont en oorspronkelijk uit Limburg komt. Zij laten de Kerstboom altijd tot Maria LIchtmis staan. Dat valt toch wel op. Ik zag van de week dat zij ook nog hun Kerstkrans aan de deur hadden hangen. Mmm zo heb je wel plezier van je spulletjes! Ik zou eigenlijk ook niet weten hoe Maria Lichtmis gevierd wordt en daarom heb ik het eens opgezocht in Wikipedia. Traditioneel schijnt pannenkoeken eten te zijn, jammer daar heb ik gisteren een kans laten liggen.
ReplyDeleteIk hoop dat je dochter weer helemaal opgeknapt is, vaak is dat na het overgeven (en het bezoek aan de tandarts) wel zo.
Die Franse tijdschriften die jij noemde lees ik ook, maar ik probeer mijzelf een beetje een halt toe te roepen. De Stampington publicaties zoals 'where women create' zijn ook haast allemaal fantastisch, maar het eind is zoek. Van die tijdschriften koop ik altijd 'Somerset Life' en 'Somerset Studio', als ik me kan beheersen tenminste.
