Hair!

She started removing her braided hair

 extensions this morning.

It takes a couple of hours. 

I was so relieved the day she said she wanted

to take them out herself.

Hair!

She wanted to look special for her opa's cremation. 

Dance school theatre performance

"Mama", she said, "for the dance performance we have to wear our hair loose. The teacher says it has to move."

 Well, she cannot possibly wear her natural African

hair loose and it doesn't move, no matter what you try.

So we asked Stéphanie, her hairdresser

from Cameroon. Stéphanie helped us through

the early years of desperation, when doing her 

hair meant hours of crying and screaming.

She didn't let us down!

It's loose and it moves.

One happy girl.
