At least once a week I google my
great-grandfather's name.
I always hope to find a link with new
information or perhaps even a new work of art.
Two weeks ago I found this lithographic print.
It was sold as a self portrait of the painter and says "1879 1929 JAN VISSER" in the bottom right corner.
I'm a little confused because this portrait is somehow different from the other portraits I own. I am
wondering if this could be a portrait of his oldest
son (and not a self portrait), whose name was
also Jan Visser, my grandfather's brother.
But what do the dates mean?
This is such an interesting journey back in time!
