The Schueberfouer is an annual Luxembourg city fair. This year is the 673th edition (it was founded in 1340)! In the beginning it was just a large market. In the 18th century shows and games became part of the fair and the Ferris wheel first appeared in the 20th century.
I have to be honest, I am not a huge fan of this fair (too many people, too loud, too expensive). However, the Schueberfouer is such a big part of Luxembourg's culture and tradition, that we try to spend an evening there with the kids every year.
The fair isn't complete without "Gromperekichelcher" (Luxembourg's famous potato pancakes). They are really good.
